A note for the reader: Before this newsletter moved to Substack it was an email thread between friends. I’m posting the previous emails here for completeness, and so that if I invoke a previous comment readers can refer to them.
This was the very first issue.
Hi all,
I realized that I spam the people on this thread constantly with emails of articles that I think are interesting. Instead of doing that, I am stealing a great idea from my better half (Ben Delsman), and condensing them into a single email, once a week. Sorry if this week has some repeats from earlier emails — going forward I’ll keep it all in a single email!
I hope you don’t mind that it is less narrowly tailored than it otherwise would be (exclusively wine articles for Aren, no Econ papers for Caroline, etc.), but perhaps this might be an improvement over my sorting of what I think you all would find interesting.
1) Culture: Plague Doctors’ Attire
2) Economy: How COVID has transformed consumption
3) Fun: The Economist on Videoconferencing Etiquette
4) Economy/Health: Vishan’s stellar analysis on the value of social distancing being featured in the WSJ
5) Media/Economy: Public perceptions on the economy precede media coverage
6) Fun: This Twitter thread on notes from Pepsi’s logo redesign
7) Wine: An interesting book recommendation for any wine-lover, but more so another reason to hate Yale…their competitive wine team.
8) Life in the time of COVID: Kleinman on the need for habits and intention in the time of social distancing.
Something to watch: Booksmart, a hilarious and quick comedy about two high-school seniors who decide to condense 4 years of fun into one night.
Lots of love to all y’all,
Harrison
